Booking Agreement
Last Updated: October 9, 2026
Target Platform: ShareYourNest.com (Concept: LocalNest)
This Booking Agreement applies to every booking made through LocalNest (operated by Local Nest LLC). By sending a booking request, the guest agrees to it. By accepting a request, the host agrees to it. The version accepted is stored with the booking.
1. Who is who
LocalNest is a platform that connects guests with host families. The stay itself is an agreement between the guest and the host. LocalNest is not the owner or operator of any accommodation and is not a party to the agreement for the stay, except for the booking fee described below. LocalNest never holds money that belongs to a host and does not pay hosts out: the only amount LocalNest receives is its own booking fee.
2. From request to confirmed booking
- The guest sends a booking request for specific dates and number of guests. Nothing is charged at this stage.
- The host accepts or declines the request. If the host accepts, the dates are held for the guest for 48 hours.
- The guest pays the booking fee within those 48 hours. If it is not received in time, the request lapses automatically and the dates become available to others.
- When LocalNest has received the booking fee, the booking is confirmed. Only then do guest and host receive each other's contact details.
3. Prices and payment
- Booking fee (25%). The guest pays 25% of the total stay price to LocalNest. This is LocalNest's service fee for bringing guest and host together.
- Balance (75%). The guest pays the remaining 75% directly to the host on arrival, in full and in one payment, in cash or by bank transfer as agreed with the host. Payment in instalments is not part of this agreement. LocalNest does not receive, hold or guarantee the balance.
- The total stay price is calculated from the host's nightly rate, the number of nights and the number of guests, and is shown to the guest before the request is sent.
- The guest should ask for, and keep, proof of the payment made to the host. The host should confirm receipt.
4. After arrival: confirming the balance
After the guest's arrival date the host confirms in LocalNest whether the balance was received in full, partly (stating the amount), or not at all. If the host reports that the balance was not fully received, LocalNest will contact both parties and may ask for proof of payment. A guest who does not pay the balance may be removed from the platform.
5. Cancellation and refunds
A guest who cancels at least 14 days before arrival receives a full refund of the booking fee; later cancellations and no-shows are not refunded. A host who cancels a confirmed booking owes the guest a full refund of the booking fee. The details are in the Cancellation and Refund Policy.
6. Conduct and problems
- Guest and host agree to treat each other and each other's home with respect and to follow the house rules the host has described.
- Problems during the stay should first be raised with the other party. If they cannot be resolved, either party can report it to LocalNest, which will help to mediate. LocalNest cannot refund money it has not received.
- Guest and host should not arrange payment of the balance outside the terms above, and should not use LocalNest solely to find each other and then avoid the booking fee.
7. Governing law and contact
This agreement is governed by the law described on the Governing Law page. Questions: info@shareyournest.com.
